From Domaine Émeraude to the Bear's Campground

A passing of the heart

Camping de l'Ours is much more than a business; it's a story of passion and continuity. Long known as Domaine Émeraude, this corner of paradise has been welcoming men from our community for over 50 years.

When we took over, our mission was clear: to honor the legacy left by Pierre and Trevor, while breathing new life into this iconic place. We also warmly thank them for their support and trust throughout this transition.

Why "The Bear"? A nod to brotherhood.

We are often asked where our new name came from. It was born from a gesture of pure camaraderie. The name Camping de l'Ours was inspired by a special gift we received from Vitambi Springs Resort in Florida, given to us by our friend Martin Ruddock.

This symbolic link to Vitambi Springs — a landmark for the community — represents exactly what we want to build here: a bridge between the great outdoors, comfort, and brotherhood. The bear embodies strength and nature, but also the spirit of "chosen family" that unites us all.

The name has changed, but the soul remains the same. Camping de l'Ours remains a space exclusively reserved for men, where freedom, respect, and enjoyment are at the heart of the experience. Our vision is to offer a safe and authentic haven, whether you come for the festive atmosphere around the campfire or the tranquility of the forest.
